Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October 1964 is a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is also the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official of the United States. She is a senator and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to being enlisted into the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then to the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she was the San Francisco district attorney. She was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. She was a senator and advocated for healthcare reform as well as federal cannabis de-scheduling an opportunity to become a citizen for immigrants without a legal status and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons as well as progressive tax reform. She earned national attention for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings, which included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and was accused of sexual assault.
