Jennifer Rene Psaki
Jennifer Rene Psaki, an American political advisor, served as the 34th White House Press Secretary from 2021 to 2022. A member of the Democratic Party she has previously been a part of the Obama administration as White House deputy press secretary (2009), White House assistant director of communications (2009–2011) and the spokesperson for the Department of State(2013-2015) and White House communication director (2015–2017). Psaki was a CNN political contributor from 2017 until 2020. Psaki started her career in 2001 when she worked on the re-election campaigns for Iowa Democrats Tom Harkin for the U.S. Senate and Tom Vilsack for governor. Psaki then became deputy press secretary for John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign. Psaki was also the communications director for Joseph Crowley, a U.S. Representative, and regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from 2005 to 2006. Psaki returned in 2012 to political communication, serving as press secretary for President Obama's 2012 campaign for reelection. 20 Psaki was fired as the spokesperson of the United States Department of State on February 11, 2013. [20] Her hiring at the Department of State fueled speculation that she would succeed White House Press Secretary Jay Carney as he left for the White House,[21] but on May 30th in 2014 it was announced that Josh Earnest would replace Carney. She was recalled to the White House as Communications Director in the year 2015 and was in place until the end.
